Florida – Pilot Sighting Report
My first sighting happened in 1961, on a trip from Tampa, Fla. to Atlanta, Ga. It was a night flight and we had leveled off at our assigned altitude and were approximately 40 miles north of Tampa. We suddenly observed a flight of four star-like objects heading south, high above us and to the east, going very fast. They were in tandem and were surrounded by a bluish-white haze or glow. We called on Miami Center frequency and asked if anyone else was seeing these objects. Immediately, an Areo Commander aircraft crew said, "Yes, we are over Vero Beach and we have them in sight." Miami Center switched us over to Jacksonville Center at this time.
After our initial call into Jacksonville Center, we asked if the controller had been getting any reports of UFOs. He replied that he had numerous reports and that the Air Force had scrambled jet fighters to attempt to catch them, but had failed to get close to them. He also mentioned that there had been many sightings all along the east coast of the U.S. from as far north as Richmond,Va. My estimate of their speed was something over 2000 mph and their altitude above 35,000 ft. We observed them about 30-45 seconds. After completing the trip and driving home, I turned on the radio to hear the latest news. The announcer said that according to a U.S. Air Force report, the mysterious objects seen in the eastern and southern states tonight, were meteors. I say, "Meteors, they were NOT". BLACK SPEARHEAD OVER JAX AIR BASE
I was with four other sailors standing watch at the naval air station in Jacksonville FL, in the year 1952 .I was the first one to see a light traveling at tremendous speed coming from the Jacksonville direction. Then the other three spotted it. It was traveling from N to S and stopped over the naval air station. There was no slowing down , just a sudden stop. The object hovered over the naval air station for about 15 seconds. It then either shot straight out or just disappeared. I think it shot straight up or out. While it was hovering you could see a dark spearhead in front of a dim yellow light. I could identify every aircraft on the air station at that time and this was unlike any thing I had ever seen. Two navy Phantom jets, the old vintage, were scrambled at the same time of the appearance. There was a feeling that the base was being probed in the 15 seconds it hovered. If I were to guess at the speed before a dead stop, I would say it was traveling at least 6000 miles an hour. Just a guess, but the altitude was about 10000 feet. I do not get excited over anything , which allowed me to observe without emotions. I know now there is something besides us in the wonderful universe. I would not believe UFO reports if I had not seen this with my own eyes. This incident was reported to the control tower; their reply was that it was just a weather balloon .
1955 ORANGE BALL PURSUED BY PILOTS
I am relating this event for my father who died some years ago..It occurred while in flight training in Florida in the mid 1950s..On a sunny day 7 jets, with 2 pilots each, were in flight training off the Florida coast..They apparently noticed being tailed by an orange ball..The squad attempted some evasive maneuvers. and then decided at some point, to try and converge on the ball. He said it really was useless, that they could never get close, The ball changed flight path, direction and speed, at will, and after toying with the planes, shot off..After landing, there was a debriefing, within a day or two, there was some type of meeting with the pilots involved basically ordering them not to speak of the incident, and that it had never happened..I'm sure some of those other pilots are still alive..unfortunately my father died years ago but spoke of the event..He later was an officer in SAC, flew quite a few classified missions, and would never have made the story up. TWO BALLS OF WHITE LIGHT ON SAWGRASS EXPRESSWAY IN 1986 OR 1987
HELLO MY NAME IS CHARLES. I AM 34 YRS. OLD AND MY MOTHER IS FROM HUNGRY AND FATHER FROM US. HE DIED IN VIETNAM IN 1967 THE YEAR I WAS BORN, A MARINE CORPORAL. MOTHER REMARRIED TO A NOW RETIRED NAVY SEAL..HAVE A BROTHER 10 YEARS APART FOR THE MOST, I, AM, NORMAL HUMANE WITH THIS TO TELL .. IN 1986/87 I SAW AND WITNESSED UFOs AND POSSIBLE CONTACT..IN 1986 AFTER A MOVIE IN WEST BROWARD COUNTY (COMMERCIAL AND UNIVERSITY) I WAS TAKING MY GIRLFRIEND HOME GOING WEST TOWARDS THE SAW GRASS EXPRESS WAY IN A 1981 TOYOTA SUPRA (HER FATHER'S). BACK THEN THE SAWGRASS WAS JUST BUILT: NO TRAFFIC. I KNOW I LIVED OUT THERE. WELL, A WEEK OR SO BEFORE D. E. A. DOWNED A SMALL PLANE FOR DRUG RUNNING,(OVER SWAMP NEAR THE EXPRESSWAY) AND SO AS WE HEADED WEST WITH NO TRAFFIC I WANTED TO SEE HOW FAST THE CAR WOULD GO. IN NO TIME I WAS ALMOST A THE END OF COMMERCIAL AND A T THE SAWGRASS. TO THE NORTH AS I LOOKED TWO BALLS OF LIGHT APPEARED. I THOUGHT "HELICOPTERS WITH SPOT LIGHTS GOING SLOWLY SOUTH, POSSIBLY CHASING A DRUG RUNNER". BOTH BALLS OF LIGHT WERE LIKE NOTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE; PURE WHITE. THEY SLOWED AND STOPPED RIGHT BEFORE THE ENTRANCE AND I STOPPED TO LOOK ..1 1/2 HOUR LATER I WAS HEADED SOUTH ON THE SAWGRASS LOOKING UP IN THE NIGHT SKY. I SAW TWO UFO's DO A FIGURE 8 TWO TIMES OVER THE SWAMP AND ONE CRAFT STAYED OVER THE SWAMP WHILE THE OTHER CROSSED THE HIGHWAY AND HOVERED OVER MY CAR AT 700 TO A 1000 FEET. I SAW WINDOWS AND SUDDENLY THE UFO TOOK OFF TOWARDS THE SOUTH (MIAMI) ON 75 VERY FAST, LEAVING TRAILS BEHIND THEM. THAT BROUGHT BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES THE NEXT DAY..SOME TIMES I THINK I WAS A DREAMING BUT THEY HAVE SHOWED ME I WAS NOT..
"CIGAR" SIGHTING NEAR BELLEVIEW, FL. IN 1978
My mother and I were returning from an adult evening class that I taught in the little town of Belleview, Fl.
Within a mile of my house, on a country road, I noticed a huge, very long, cigar shaped object hovering over a wooded area adjacent to my home. (The object was bout two-thirds the size of a football field.) It had a long line of unblinking lighted windows, it made no sounds. The massive object just sat there, hovering motionless, lighted against the darkness of night. I slowed down the car and pointed it out to my mother, she was as stunned as I. There was no explanation for something unlike anything either of us had ever seen before.
Over the previous years we had heard some "yarns" about how space ships and flying saucers had been seen in the Belleview area where we lived. Never truly believing them, I had dismissed them as vivid yarns of the imaginations. That night as a memory of a "yarn" of yesterday returned to me, I gave thought to the many large, deep lime pit cavities in the area of Marion County, Fl. Two of which were very near our home. Our area is noted as a lightening capitol of Florida because of the massive supply of limerock and large, mined limerock cavities. I wondered if there was a connection.
After studying the object for about five minutes I told Mother we needed to hurry the short distance home and I would try to get a photograph of it from the house. It remained stationary as we pulled into the driveway. It was closer than ever and looked even more massive just a short distance where we stood looking up. I hurried into the house and blurting to my husband what hovered over the woods next door, naturally he thought I was nuts, but hurried outside to see for himself. Of course, the camera was packed somewhere and I couldn't find it instantly. I ran outside with my husband and mother and just as I looked up, the large cigar shaped object began to move away slowly. Still NO sound or emission from the space oddity. It moved in a horizontal direction until it vanished into the darkness of night. We three stood there dumbfounded at what we had just experienced. However, we knew what we had seen was real. I was very excited for having actually seen the "cigar shaped" space ship, nothing like a "flying saucer", it was magnificently huge from the viewpoint of the backyard of my home. It was not directly overhead, one end of it was just at the edge of the woods adjacent to our home, about 500 ft. away. My husband, my mother and I stood staring at it in total bewilderment. It was almost like being pulled into some science fiction movie..... but, we knew it was real.
I forgot to add that the "cigar" shaped object hovered silently over those woods for a minimum of twenty minutes and was in no hurry to leave. When departing it just slowly moved in a horizontal direction from our rural area. It was not totally lighted, only a string of small, brightly lit windows covering two thirds of the long body of the ship. There was never any reports (that I am aware of) of anyone else seeing it.
I then phoned one of the local radio stations to find out if there had been anything unusual reported in the South Marion area. ""Like what?", the voice replied. I briefly explained the object and the response was in the tone of voice... he thought I was a nut. I wanted to blurt out, "I am a teacher, an educated person, a realistic person, a "show me" person who has to see to believe." I didn't defend what we had seen, the almost chuckle in his voice prompted me to simply hang up. BJ
